Welcome to the website. We are the party of freedom. Our philosophy is very different from the Republicans and Democrats. We believe in liberty. The Republicans and Democrats love deficits, inflation, wars, drafts, nation building, regulations, taxes, social engineering and all other manner of control. Look at the history of Washington D.C. and try to argue that they don't. We have record debt, record regulation, driven industry out of the country and created a crazy tax code. We have a rapidly growing police state. Hitler, Stalin or Mao would love the power that both the Democrats and Republicans have given to the Federal Government. The Declaration of Independence claimed government should serve the individual. The Democrats and the Republicans think that the individual should serve the state. America once championed individual liberty. Now the American Government actively attacks individual liberty. We challenge you to read the Home page and the About Us page. The United States is changing. Do you think America is changing for the better? Do you think you are free? 

As of October 26, 2009, the current national debt is $11,911,650,861,396.50, as well as 57 trillion in unfunded liabilities plus the gross debasement of our currency. That makes you a debt slave.

Do you think you own your own home? Just try not paying your property taxes or become the object of eminent domain. You will no longer be king of the castle. This means you are a serf renting the King's Land.

Are you a law abiding citizen? Go and read a state and federal criminal/traffic statutes law book or the Tax Code and find out the truth. According to attorney and author Harvey Silverglate,  many American citizens may unwittingly  commit up to three felonies a day. This means your a slave to the whims of the state.

What would you do when going to the gas station or convenience store and you find yourself looking down the wrong end of a gun? Would you call and wait for the police? If you are fortunate enough to be over the age of 21, a politician currently holding office, or are an officer of the law, your options are to your advantage and if you are not the preceding, you are forbidden to have a firearm at the ready to defend you and other would be victims. The very fact that you are not allowed to defend yourself in turn makes you a victim two times over: first by the criminal and secondly by the "laws" that are written to "protect you". The politician and the villain care little about the laws and Bill of Rights.  You, are the only one of the three that respects freedom, but because of your obedience to the law, you are the only one that lost your freedom. Slaves throughout history were disarmed.

Do you think you are free politically? Maybe you are for now. According to The Department of Homeland Security's MIAC Strategic Report, if you supported Ron Paul or Libertarian Bob Barr for President, you might be a terrorist militia member. If you did not, you still are not free from suspicion. If you oppose any of the following you may pose a threat: The U.N., Gun Control, The Ammunition and Accountability Act, The Federal Reserve, The North American Union, The New World Order, The Violation of Posse Comitatus, The Income Tax, Illegal Immigration, Abortion, Radio Frequency Identification, The Universal Service Program, even our returning veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are under the watchful eye of the government due to being at risk for anti-government propaganda. Can you say, Mind Slave?

Do you recognize that the bankster bailout was an act of theft? It used to be criminals robbed banks with guns. Now criminal Banksters rob people with politicians. Think of the massive transfer of wealth to Wall Street, Americans born and unborn will be forced by the government to pay. Do you know about the Federal Reserve? Do you have a hard time understanding why the people are becoming poorer and an elite few richer?

The Sangamon County Libertarian Party exists for the following reasons:

• To promote the understanding of the Libertarian Philosophy
• To support candidates for public office who subscribe, in general, to Freedom principles
