We believe in liberty, limited government and personal responsibility. The Libertarian Party thinks that you own your life and your property.  GUNS

What would you do when going to the gas station or convenience store and you find yourself looking down the wrong end of a gun? Would you pull a police officer from your pocket to defend yourself? Would you have your Secret Service Agent handle it? Would you do what the aggressor tells you to do and bow to his demands at the moment? Would you hope and pray that he chooses not to harm you? The point is your defense is dependent on others. Who will compensate you for your death? Who is more interested in defending your life? Generally, the Police will show up in time to write a history of your last moment on Earth. They are victim historians. They will fill out a report. There is not enough of them to protect you. If there were enough of them, well, your in a dictatorship. The police would probably be a threat at that point.

The politicians have forbidden you from having a firearm at the ready to defend yourself and others. While the politicians, law enforcement and judges have many special rights and privileges that you do not. It is even a higher crime to harm a public official. The police and politicians can be armed and/or have special protections under the law for themselves and their families. The common person does not have any special protections. The common man must place himself in the hands of luck, chance, God and fate. If he lives in a bad area he may be lucky enough to have fear as a guide to help him survive and/or cower through his misfortune. This two tiered system of privilege more reflects serfdom than it does freedom!!! 

The very fact that you are not allowed to defend yourself in turn makes you a victim two times over: first by the criminal and secondly by the "laws" that are written to "protect you". The politician and the villain care little about the laws and the Bill of Rights. The political class have made themselves above the people. They have either more protection and/or do not have to follow the laws the rest of us do. The criminal cares not about his future freedom. He certainly does not care about you. You, are the only one of the three that respects freedom, but because of your obedience to the law, you are the only one that lost your freedom. I repeat, your obedience to the law (not justice) made you a slave. Your master is the criminal and the politician. Slaves throughout history were disarmed. DEBT

The current national debt is over 14 trillion dollars, as well as 57 trillion in unfunded liabilities plus the gross debasement of our currency. That makes you a debt slave. Click here for the exact amount U.S.Debt Clock.Org

The income tax should be abolished. Libertarians believe your labor is your property, therefore, yours to do with as you wish. The concept of ownership means that it belongs to you and no other. The state thinks it is entitled to part if not all of your labor (co-owner). They think they own a percentage of your life. They get a cut of what ever you do. The state will decide how much of your labor you are allowed to keep, be it 1% OR 100%. The number is  arbitrary, but the control is not. Does that sound like a form of slavery to you? Does that sound like you are free? For many years our country existed without an income tax.

According to an Americans for Tax Reform study, hidden taxes raise the cost of everything you buy-from 26% to 75%. The government taxes every product through every phase of its production. For example, 20 different taxes on a manufactured car. It costs $12,650 for a manufacturer to produce a car, including the dealer's profit. However, you pay $23,000. The difference, $10,350, is pocketed by the government. That destroys jobs, standards of living and limits opportunities for freedom and prosperity.

Taxes account for 28% of a restaurant meal, 75% of  a pack of cigarettes, 43% of the cost of a beer and 54% of a gallon of gasoline. The average American family pays 43% of their income to the government. That is more than they pay for food, clothing, shelter and transportation combined. Can you say indentured servant?

 PROPERTY

Do you think you own your own home? Just try not paying your property taxes or become the object of eminent domain. You will no longer be king of the castle. This means you are a serf renting the King's Land. Have you ever risked doing a home improvement project (deck, roof etc.) without the right permission slip and proper fees?  Control

Are you a law abiding citizen? Go and read a state and federal criminal/traffic statutes law book or the Tax Code and find out the truth. According to attorney and author Harvey Silverglate,  many American citizens may unwittingly  commit up to three felonies a day. This means your a slave to the whims of the state.

You may or may not agree with the war on drugs. But the authority of the state over your blood stream may lead to the food police, vitamin police, the Doctor of the Government's choice, medicine control, alcohol prohibition, tobacco prohibition etc. They may choose not to outlaw some of the little comforts that make life more enjoyable. Hopefully, with their permission of course, they may only punish the use with exorbitant sin taxes. But they will be the decider. You can move away from your parents, but you cannot move away from controlling governments. Under what authority do these people act? Governments throughout history want to control their subjects. We prefer human freedom and individual rights.   

THOUGHT POLICE

Do you think you are free politically? Maybe you are for now. According to The Department of Homeland Security's MIAC Strategic Report, if you supported Ron Paul or Libertarian Bob Barr for President, you might be a terrorist militia member. If you did not, you still are not free from suspicion. If you oppose any of the following you may pose a threat: The U.N., Gun Control, The Ammunition and Accountability Act, The Federal Reserve, The North American Union, The New World Order, The Violation of Posse Comitatus, The Income Tax, Illegal Immigration, Abortion, Radio Frequency Identification, The Universal Service Program, even our returning veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan are under the watchful eye of the government due to being at risk for anti-government propaganda. Can you say, Mind Slave?

Do you recognize that the bankster bailout was an act of theft? It used to be criminals robbed banks with guns. Now criminal Banksters rob people with politicians. Think of the massive transfer of wealth to Wall Street, Americans born and unborn will be forced by the government to pay. Do you know about the Federal Reserve? Do you have a hard time understanding why the people are becoming poorer and an elite few richer?

How much human freedom do you believe in? Who owns your life? Should you make personal decisions regarding your actions or should government? Who should determine how your money is spent? Who should determine what is best for you and your family? Do you trust yourself or the government? A Libertarian believes in the individual, the Democrats and Republicans believes that government should decide. The Republicans and Democrats want to be in control. Preamble- From the National Party Platform

As Libertarians, we seek a world of liberty; a world in which all individuals are sovereign over their own lives and no one is forced to sacrifice his or her values for the benefit of others.

We believe that respect for individual rights is the essential precondition for a free and prosperous world, that force and fraud must be banished from human relationships, and that only through freedom can peace and prosperity be realized.

Consequently, we defend each person's right to engage in any activity that is peaceful and honest, and welcome the diversity that freedom brings. The world we seek to build is one where individuals are free to follow their own dreams in their own ways, without interference from government or any authoritarian power.

In the following pages we have set forth our basic principles and enumerated various policy stands derived from those principles.

These specific policies are not our goal, however. Our goal is nothing more nor less than a world set free in our lifetime, and it is to this end that we take these stands. 

Statement of Principles

We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual.

We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.

Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than our own grant to government the right to regulate the lives of individuals and seize the fruits of their labor without their consent.

We, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that where governments exist, they must not violate the rights of any individual: namely, (1) the right to life -- accordingly we support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action -- accordingly we oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property -- accordingly we oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation.

Since governments, when instituted, must not violate individual rights, we oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary and contractual relations among individuals. People should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of individual rights, is the free market.
