Through activism we will get the freedom message out into the public. Right now the public is under the impression that the two party system is the only option. They also have the bad idea that government can solve the problem, not realizing that government is usually the problem.

Our activity will hopefully change the perception of the public. We hope to expose threats to liberty. We want to present the freedom option to the public.

This page of the site is to help document past activism and organize future events.

We will seek organizers, participants as well as donors. Think of the founding fathers. All aided in their own way. 

State Fair!!!!

The State Libertarian Party has been accepted at the Illinois State Fair. They have tried and failed in the past. Now we have succeeded.

We will need volunteers to staff the tent.

Second Amendment

The Sangamon County Libertarian Party is organizing activists  to push local politicians to back pro 2nd amendment statements. We are in the planning stages right now.

As you know, free people are armed, Slaves are not. Hitler, Stalin and Mao demonstrated the danger a disarmed public could face from a powerful centralized government. 

A well armed public can also aid in the diminishing of crime. When was the last time you heard of any problems at a gun show?

Operation politically homeless

The local chapter is now in possession of this kit from the Advocates of Self Government. It is a valuable recruiting aid and will be made available to any activist upon request. This instrument of liberty was made by generous donors like you. For more on this kit you can go to the link here.

Americans for Peace PAC

A local activist has decided to develop a non-partisan political action committee. It will focus on raising funds to advance the cause of a non-interventionist foreign policy. One reason for the SCLP is to assist activists working for freedom. This is not party affiliated but sounds like it sure is freedom affiliated!!! A Call To Action

The Empire Strikes Back

The Libertarian Party of Illinois did a great job collecting signatures to get our candidates on the ballot, but our task is not over. People who are very afraid of our candidates and the coming Libertarian Revolution worked overtime to put together a challenge to our state-wide petition. It's no trivial task to comb through 2,583 petition pages and find something to object to on 26,978 individual signature lines. 

We need you to defend our signatures against this attack. We don't know the exact schedule yet, but sometime between July 7 - 30, we will need an estimated 12 volunteers per day to descend on Springfield. Each volunteer defender will be assigned to a computer along with an objector and a neutral representative from the State Board of Elections.

At the computer, all you do is look at our petitions and see if you can find matches in the list of registered voters. It's not hard to do, but we must to have people defending our side or the objections will stand and our candidates will be kicked off the ballot.

If you can support our team in Springfield, please email your name, phone, and how many days (1-3) you think you can attend to PDM@LPIllinois.org. Please also mention if you have an room to share with a fellow defender who is staying overnight. We will contact you as soon as we know the date the challenge will begin.

What are they afraid of?

Our district candidates were all challenged as well as the state-wide petition. Here's where they stand:

- Doug Marks plans to continue his campaign for the 14th Congressional District as a write-in candidate.

- Kevin Hendricksonis seeking to have his objection withdrawn in the 69th Representative District.

 - Steve Funk will take up the legal battle to defend his right to be on the ballot in the 18th Representative District. You can read Steve's press release about the challenge and donate to his campaign to support his defense on his website VoteSteveFunk.com.

Donations equal activism. Your generosity will fund activities here.

Some have more time than money, others have more money than time. All aid in their own way and ability. The same was done by our Founders. Our current total is $140.00. Once again, that is 12 trillion more than the government. It was also raised by volunteer donations!!!!

Person to Person

Please defend liberty in public. Talk to your neighbor. Talk to your local politician and/or police officer. Be an Ambassador. Your conversation will spread the concept of freedom. 

Got Banners!

The local chapter has acquired a banner for our activists. We are in the process of acquiring one or two more as well. It is important to get our name out into the public, especially at the beginning stages of our organization. This tool will be made available for any activist looking to get exposure for our party at public events. Branding is important.

The SCLP is also developing low cost advertising ideas. Such as pens with funny liberty quips with our name, logo and website attached. Ideas and contributions would be  appreciated. A 6 foot table and two chairs were donated to the cause. These will help at gun shows or fairs.
