Mission Statement
It is our intention to promote the idea of liberty. We hope to help local leaders create/maintain a free and prosperous community. We know that political differences exist. We trust that we can build on the issues where agreement can be attained and work for understanding where differences cannot be overcome. We want to focus on the promotion of individual rights and aid government and individuals in protecting those rights.
Membership
To become a member is free. Either sign up over the SCLP Web Site or join at one of our meetings. You may have dual membership in other political parties.
You may not want to join but wish to attend our meetings. That is fine. We are a party of individual rights and freedoms. Please respect that.
Dues - None! Voluntary donations of time, treasure or talent is all that we ask.
Expulsion
The SCLP subscribes to the no use of force or fraud rule except in the case of self defense. Any violation of the force or fraud rule to persons or property will give cause for a persons immediate expulsion from an event. A permanent removal from the Party and future events will be voted on at the next meeting.
Officer Elections
Eligibility - Membership in the SCLP
Officer Elections will be held yearly in October.
Majority number of votes will determine the outcome of the election.
Nominations for office may be submitted before the election if a member cannot attend.
Officers may only hold one office at a time unless an emergency vacancy arises or if no one else wishes to fill the position. A vacancy will be filled as soon as possible by a special election. The special election will be held at the next meeting after at least two weeks notice by e-mail and posting on the SCLP web-site.
Current Officer Positions -

Candidates for Elections to Office
Any person wanting to get the endorsement of the SCLP as a Libertarian or SCLP public backing must request a meeting. They must be vetted and approved by SCLP members by majority at a monthly meeting. They must answer general political questions that pertain to Libertarian principals.
They will also pay for any backround checks if needed. Members can voluntarily donate for such costs of course.
If two or more are running for the same office, the two with the most votes will have a run off. The final victor will have the majority.
Media
The SCLP will appoint a person to handle the media on certain subjects. The Chairman has the authority to make this appointment. A majority can override the Chairman if there are objections.
Awards
Recognition of positive action helps bring attention to the actor, the cause itself and the positive role of being an activist. Therefore it is important to recognize those that stand out.
The SCLP will issue various awards to individuals and causes. The SCLP will also sponsor individuals to State/National Libertarian Organizations for recognition.
Some people do not want publicity for their award due to possible backlash. That is why our awards will be private unless prior approval is gained for public acknowledgment.
The SCLP has a local Liberty Award for people who promote liberty in our community.
Yearly we will have various awards for those that stand out in promoting freedom in our community. Any person can nominate anyone for an award. Please submit a nomination to two or more officers of the SCLP. The Officers will vote on the merit of the award.
The award will be issued upon approval or at a public function if allowed. Yearly awards will be given at the October election meeting prior to the changing of the new officers.
