A Brief Summation of Sangamon County Libertarian Views

 We think everyone owns his or her own life.  We think that this includes your land and labor.  These things should not be subject to taxation or seizure.

We think that two very different types of people exist in this world:

     1) People who wish to be left alone (libertarians)

     2) Those who do not want to leave people  alone

Libertarians generally believe in letting people live the way they see fit.  We believe in liberty and volunteerism. We do not advocate the initiation of force or fraud.  We may only use force in case of self defense or in the preservation of our land and our property. We believe a free people have a right to be well armed. We believe in open and/or concealed carry.

We believe individuals should decide what is in their own interest. Government should not control people's lives. Some in government believe in personal liberty but not economic liberty. Other people in government believe in economic liberty but not personal liberty.  Libertarians believe in both economic and personal liberties.

The Republicans and Democrats believe that government force can and should be used in controlling and engineering people's actions and beliefs. They will fight with each other for the direction of this control but not if such control is lawful and/or moral.  They are collectivists. They believe they may seize you, your money or your property in service to their group ideology. It does not matter if it is communist or fascist. It is not American.

Libertarians believe the role of government should be very limited.  It should protect individual rights.  We believe it should exist for contract enforcement and stopping those that commit force or fraud.

Join The Sangamon County Libertarian Party. Demonstrate your support for liberty. Your membership allows you to vote in our local meetings and influence the direction of the organization. Remember membership is free. You can also be a dual member of another party. 

I hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and live in any manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live as they choose.
