Our goal is to cover local, state and national news from a different perspective. From both a freedom oriented and local viewpoint.

Be Not Afraid?

By their fruits you will know them - Matthew 7:16

I will give you quotes from V.I. Lenin. Please contemplate the policy of the American Government which follows directly after the quote:

  • The surest way to destroy a nation is to debauch its currency -

Federal Reserve

  • First ascertain exactly the position of various capitalists, than control them, influence them by restricting or enlarging, facilitating or hindering their credits, and finally they can entirely determine their fate -

Federal Reserve?

  • The way to crush the bourgeoisie is to grind them between the millstones of taxation and inflation -

Federal Reserve?

  • Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted -

Public Education?

  • Destroy the family and you destroy the country -

Public Education and the Federal Reserve?

  • A system of licensing and registration is the perfect device to deny gun ownership -

Federal Gun Laws?

  • Only an armed people can be the bulwark of popular liberty -

Federal Gun Laws?

  • One of the basic conditions for the victory of socialism is the arming of the communists and the disarming of the bourgeoisie -

Armed Military and Police / Disarmed population (Hurricane Katrina)?

  • I don't care what becomes of Russia. To hell with it. All this is only a road to world revolution -

Years of De-industrialization / Record debt / Cultural De-stabilization / multiple wars?

  • The aim of socialism is not to abolish the present division of mankind into small states but to merge them -

  U.N.?

  • It would be the greatest mistake, certainly, to think that concessions mean peace. Nothing of the kind. Concessions are nothing but a new kind of war -

Many well meaning Americans do not focus on their government. They worry more about the foreign dictator across the ocean. They do not think the problems of the U.S. Government are institutional. They think the next election cycle will finally be the one where the right decider or changer will fix the nation.

Besides, the corporate media fills them with fear. Be afraid! We may have to go to war with those that might steal our freedom. Countries like North Korea, Iran, Yemen, Pakistan, Sudan and Somalia pose vital national threats to your freedom. Are you afraid?

Which government currently should you fear most?

A foreign government across the ocean, or the government here at home?  The one that taxes your income? The one that can take away your right to free speech? The one that is taking away your right to bear arms? The one that has signed you into debt slavery? The one that can draft you against your will? The one that has seized and is in the process of seizing a substantial part of the economy? The one that can take your home? The one that regulates your business? The one that licenses you? The one that fines and fees you? The one that can wiretap and monitor you? The one that investigates you for your thoughts and political beliefs? The one that can audit you? The one that will entangle itself into military alliances all over the planet? The one that educates you? The one that is willing to tell you what portion of your income it will allow you to keep? The one that will tell you what Doctor, what treatment, what food, what idea, what drug, what school, what show, what party, what speech zone, what vehicle etc. etc etc. etc.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague." -- Cicero

Government won't protect us here, but they will protect others over there??

America is broke. Layoffs and business foreclosures are common place. The deficit is over 12 trillion dollars. Local governments are struggling financially. They will have to cut basic services. They will be cutting back on police and fire departments. I find it sad that as we see businesses close and we cut fire and police protection at home, we will be expanding police, fire and military protection abroad.

This is not just in Iraq and Afghanistan. We provide military, police and other aid all over the planet. Why should we subsidize foreign competitors in the global economy with our money and debt? Why should we continue to protect Europe, Korea and Japan as well as many other countries who can protect themselves? Why should we suffer so they may supplement their economy with our wealth?

Could we not bring our troops home from one if not all the locations around the globe? This would make us safer and more competitive. It would free up more money to pay down the debt. The U.S. economy would become healthier.

What kind of society destroys foreign bridges and buildings and than rebuilds them? We are on the verge of economic collapse and we have a failing infrastructure? What are we doing nation building? Adding death and debt will not endear us around the globe. Not to mention the environmental destruction meted out with depleted uranium causing unknown damage to water supplies around the globe.

America needs to return to the foreign policy that enabled this country to thrive in peace and prosperity. This policy was the policy of non-intervention that the founding fathers envisioned. This policy is not isolationist. This policy is based in the reality that we have limits and that we have real debts.

Just Wondering Why???

We fought National Socialists in WWII. We fought International Socialists in the cold war. The Communists of Korea and Vietnam we once made war upon. Now we are to embrace the Peoples Health Care??? Tea Party anyone???

    Census Anyone?

I watched the local news do a one sided news story on the census. They trumpeted how much money we can get from the Feds. They eluded to your patriotic duty to fill out the form. They said many groups use the data. On this I found common ground with the reporter.

Those familiar with the story of Joseph and Mary know that all Caesars love having  their cattle counted. They love to number and brand their stock. This type of controlling behavior by government is as old as history. The U.S. Constitution uses the census to determine representation in Congress. However, those of us familiar to the ways of the state see possibilities for abuse.

To make the claim that the U.S. government may abuse the power of the census is almost a heresy today. The Idol worshipers of today love Government more than our freedom. They say that our government wouldn't let abuse happen here. So some of us bring up the ugly facts of history to warn people that if it happened in the past, it could happen in the future.

When confronted with the story of the Indians, it is dismissed as a  horrible mistake. When asked about the story of slavery, it too was a mistake. The origin of public schools with its hatred towards Catholics is also admitted as a mistake. More learned individuals may point to the numerous eugenics laws in America as a reason to fear central authority and its inquiry. This too is another admitted mistake. Scientific America had an article verifying that  the government used census data to gather Americans up for internment during WWII. This also was a mistake.

But don't worry, we have worked it all out. Power no longer corrupts, especially if we have complete power. Time has cured us of all past human weakness. Modernity has washed away original sin. Man will no longer prey upon man and government will no longer harm a soul.

Though history may tell you otherwise, The Decider and/or the Changer will tell you differently. Go to sleep and wait for another chapter in history. All is well and please register with the proper authority. Your property, your religion, your guns, your thoughts need to be numbered and counted.

"Click it or Ticket" can stick it!!!

Maybe you have seen or heard the recent Illinois Department of Transportation advertisements? Where an all seeing, ever watching police force is waiting to fine you when you least expect it. Despite the creepy stalker aspect of the commercial, I believe it could be a positive for the Libertarian Party of Sangamon County.

Nothing says Big Brother like that commercial. This encapsulates the ideological battle of what a police force should be. It crystallizes the argument for all to see.

      1) Libertarians believe a police force should protect us from force and fraud. We think they should render aid and be of service (such as helping out at accidents). They should ensure rights be protected. Help direct possible disputes between citizens to the courts or other possible remedies. In general, be Officers of the Peace. 1776.

      2) Statists believe the police should protect us from ourselves (such as seat belt laws) as well as force or fraud. Like an over-protective mother whose house you cannot move away from. They were the people who brought you Prohibition and the side affects of Al Capone and the ATF.They believe the police should be law enforcement. 1984.

The argument is simple. What is the proper role of government?  Are you free or are you not. If I am not harming another person's self or property, why should I be harassed? Why should my money, which amounts to my time in labor, be seized for the state because I freely chose a risk? Why should I not be able to drive down the street and have to worry that I am about to be fleeced? Shouldn't I be able to do a simple task without having government in my face? Who serves who?

What emotion do you feel when a police car is behind you in traffic? Do you feel comfort that a public servant is there for your protection? Or do you think he is there to gain revenue? Be honest.

The statists believe government should engineer perfect behavior. Take this to the logical conclusion and we will have to eat our vegetables before we put on our seat belts and drive our government approved car to a government approved location. Should mom... I mean the government... approve of whom I am going to meet with?

Imagine the horse and buggy carrying George Washington on the way down the road. I wonder if it has proper registration? I wonder if he has a valid driver's license? I wonder if he is wearing a seat belt? I wonder if they stopped him at a road side "safety check" a.k.a. road block? I wonder if they searched his vehicle? I wonder if they found his cannabis? I wonder if they found his gun in a proper container with the ammunition separate? I wonder if he had a f.o.i.d. card? I wonder if the centralized data computer has him listed as an armed and dangerous militia threat? I wonder if he would ask what 1776 was for?

With real monsters in this world, why is the government tilting at windmills? We should leave this type of comedy to Don Quixote. I wonder how we ever survived without the Department of Transportation?

Here are some quotes on safety that we should all reflect upon.

"Those that desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one."- Benjamin Franklin

"While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but once they lose their virtue, they will be willing to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader." Samuel Adams

"Any excuse will serve a tyrant."- Aesop

"Never could an increase in comfort or security be a sufficient good to be bought at the price of liberty."- Hillare Belloc

"No passion so effectively robs the mind of all its powers of acting or reasoning as fear."-Edmond Burke

"The welfare of the people in particular has always been the alibi of tyrants, and it provides the further advantage of giving the servants of tyranny a good conscience."- Albert Camus

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for future security."-Declaration of Independence

"There is one safeguard known to the wise, which is an advantage and security to all, but especially to democracies as against despots. What is it? Distrust."- Demosthenes

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect every one who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force you are inevitably ruined."-  Patrick Henry

"Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery?"- Patrick Henry

"The people must fight for their laws as for their walls."- Heraclitus

"Without law and order are nation cannot survive."- Adolf Hitler

"Who will watch the watchers?"- Juvenal

"The people are the ultimate guardians of liberty."- Thomas Jefferson

"The State has taken on vast mass of new duties and responsibilities; it has spread out its powers until they penetrate to every act of the citizen, however secret; it has begun to throw around its operations the high dignity and impeccability of a state religion; its agents a separate caste, with authority to bind and loose, and their thumbs in every pot." H.L. Mencken

"The urge to save humanity is almost always a false-face for the urge to rule it."- H.L. Mencken

"For when they say, "peace and safety," then sudden destruction comes upon them." - St. Paul
