  • It is our intention to promote the idea of liberty. We hope to help local leaders create/maintain a free and prosperous community. We know that political differences exist. We trust that we can build on the issues where agreement can be attained and work for understanding where differences cannot be overcome. We want to focus on the promotion of individual rights and aid government in protecting those rights.

    CPAC THE UNTOLD STORY

The Neo-Conservative movement is in big trouble as Constitutional/Libertarianism- Conservatism is on the rise. CPAC-2010 straw poll numbers spell out the unpopularity of big government Neo-Conservative policies. There is more behind the numbers than the Libertarian/Constitutional straw poll victory of Ron Paul. Here is what the traditional media has missed.

Respondents responded to the question of what most represents your core beliefs in the following:

My most important goal is to promote individual freedom by reducing the size and scope of government and its intrusion into the lives of its citizens - this came in first with - 80%

Traditional values came in second with - 9%.
While safety and security finished in third with - 7%

In another section of the straw poll the Neo-Cons lost out again to the Libertarian-Constitutional conservatives. Reducing the size of the Federal Government came in first at 52%. Reducing spending came in second at 33%. Lowering taxes and the war on terror both tied for third at 18%.

In another section on fiscal issues: Cutting Federal spending came in first at 58%.
Reducing the debt came in second at 23%. While reducing taxes came in at 15%.

Now we go to the straw poll: Ron Paul 33%, Mitt Romney 22%, Sarah Palin 7%, Tim Pawlenty 6%, Mike Pence 5%, Newt Gingrich 4%, Huckabee 4%, Daniels 2%, Santorum 2%.

The traditional Neo-Con candidates did not fare well. The issues are trending towards the Constitution-Libertarian wing of the party. These new trends are not represented yet in the leadership or media portion of the party.  The youth movement is also overwhelmingly with the Constitutional-Libertarian branch of the party. I wonder how traditional media will respond to the new numbers? Ignore the new trends and the traditional media will continue to lose customers and credibility.
The traditional pundits initially mocked or dismissed the results at CPAC. They claimed that Paul is an extremist and his policies are supported by youthful ideologues.
While Dick "deficits don't matter" Cheney and the policies of Bush are somehow treated as credible by the same supposed more rational/real world media. While these Neo-Con - Neo-Lib ideologues promote more war, more debt and the further growth of government. I wonder, which group lives in the real world? I wonder if the youth movement is responding to the generational plunder of  the boomers upon their generation. The current youths are defending their pocket book. Nothing is more real or rational. They are defending it by pointing to the Constitution. They point to human rights. They are mocked. This is why you see the Gasden Flag.

    Questions to Consider

    Press Release - November 27, 2009

Should we force blood draws on all people for the war on drugs? It could save lives.

Should we force open all homes for mandatory searches for the war on drugs, terror or any other criminal activity? It could save lives.

Should we force people to eat healthy and deny everyone fast food, candy, alcohol, tobacco or any other possible unhealthy thing? It could save lives.

Should we mandate Doctors to search all people medically for crime? Lets deputize the medical industry.   Prescription drug abuse, unapproved medicine, risky behavior, all could be criminal. Since we will soon have socialized medicine, financial costs should be considered. The Doctor/patient relationship could pose a threat. Ending privacy could save lives and money.

Should we burn books, magazine and heretics for thinking wrongly? It could save lives.

Should we have a one child policy? It could save lives.

Should we have the government monitor every location possible with cameras, microphones and spies? It could save lives.

Should we force the old and infirm to die? It could save us money. It could enable the government to free up money that is fungible. This would be done of course, to save lives and increase the living standard.

Should we deny the genetically deficient to breed? It could make humanity healthier in the long run.

Should we let experts or even one superb human being run the entire government (including us)? Control all media and education? It could save lives.

Should we leave the rearing of children to the experts in government? It could save lives.

Should government officials check your homes, your cars and your marriage for any defects? It could save lives.

Should we have government officials arrange for us to be married to properly vetted spouses? A full genetic and mental match would insure safety. It could save lives.

Should road blocks be used to search all people for criminal activity? Papers please? What do you mean rights? Are you refusing? Are you resisting? What do you have to hide? Blood draw? Doctor/Nurse are you refusing to help me get his blood? Are you resisting? I don't care that you went into medicine to help people. You are now under arrest for resisting.

We are concerned about a slippery slope. The presumption of innocence may be morphing into a more foreign standard. Where everyone is suspect and everyone is guilty, until proven innocent.

These examples have either happened in history and/or laws are now being proposed to implement them. Sparta, Nazi Germany, Communist China and even America had Eugenic laws. Modern Japan has issued a waste line law. They think they are saving lives but it ends in governments taking lives and freedom. The 20th century has much to say on this. Hell is paved with good intentions, and tyranny is summoned when man tries to make utopia on Earth.

The Sangamon County Libertarians have grave concerns about the recent forced blood draws. We understand the problems of balancing freedom and safety. We hope to work with community leaders in addressing some concerns. We will seek to have a positive working relationship with the local Democrat and Republican Parties. Our goal is to promote freedom, prosperity and understanding.

Support for Non-Interventionist Foreign Policy

Press Release - March 14th, 2010

"No nation could wish to preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare"  - James Madison

The Sangamon County Libertarian Party supports the Rally for non-intervention at the Il State Capital on March 20th, 2010 at noon.

The loss of life and the injury of tens of thousands of people, both here and abroad, should be reason enough to end our current foreign policy.

With 12 trillion dollars of debt and tens of trillions in unfunded liabilities the country is broke. The SCLP thinks that it is wrong to put our children into debt bondage to police the entire world. It makes no sense to go into debt to bomb and then rebuild foreign nations. This money should be kept and used by its rightful owners, the American People themselves.

The perpetual war on terror has led to a perpetual war on civil liberties. Government and corporations working in tandem to monitor the American People should be a concern to all. A surveillance society is being developed. Many dismiss this concern. But history and the Founding Fathers would side with those who wish to protect and guard liberty. The current foreign policy increases the threats to liberty both foreign and domesti

The Story of the Dragon

Press Release – November 27, 2009

Wise men of past generations studied humanity and the force of government. They have suffered from the dragon that once demanded our children and our treasure. If we would offer up a token to the dragon all would be fine. A tax here, a cherished right there or even a virgin. They would make the threat leave. Fear is what they use. It could be the war on terror, the war on climate change, the war on drugs or even a war on drunk driving. The wise men recognized the ways of the dragon and locked him up in a cage called the Constitution.

So long as we follow the advice of wise men, things like the 20th century will not happen. But if we don't heed the advice of history and our  founding fathers, we will be doomed to repeat the past. Pride will set in and we will think that we are better than past generations. We will become arrogant and wrongly think we can control the dragon. We are enlightened. We are the change to believe in. We are the deciders. We will begin to believe in the illusion that we are smarter and we have technology.

The dragon will whisper to the people. He will tell them I can help. He will tell them that the past generations did not know. He will play to their vanity. He will speak to their pride. He will say you could be like God. You can bind and loose. He will convince you to make the world safe. We will make the world anew. We can conjure magic. Utopia on Earth.

The foolish will listen. One by one the chains of the Constitution will be loosened. The dragon will grow in power and force. He will begin to devour. Those that enabled him to be set free will be frozen in their pride. They will not want to admit they were wrong. They will be under the spell of the dragon. They will help him plunder. They will attack the dragon's enemies. They will not seek understanding but will demand compliance. You will obey. You must serve.

War will return to the land. Death will return to the land. Freedom may or may not return. Historians way in the future will look upon this quaint part of history and they will ask if it could ever happen in their country? How will the wise answer? How would the foolish answer?  How will the dragon answer?

The recent issue of forced blood draws is of grave concern to the Sangamon County Libertarian Party. We hope to avoid a slippery slope. Some say we are already there. We hope to reach out to local community leaders, as well as the local Democrat and Republican Parties in promoting understanding and freedom. We hope to be a positive force for liberty and prosperity in Sangamon County.
